Enterprise
Developing strategic enterprises in Bulembu is essential to building financial sustainability for the town. Community Enterprise focuses on building profitable businesses that will add more than job creation, but will contribute to the overall development of the community. With your decision to donate to a Community Enterprise, you are partnering with Bulembu International to ensure Bulembu emerges a self-sustaining community by 2020. Below is a list of emerging Community Enterprises that need your support.
Bulembu Bakery
The Bulembu Bakery launched in 2009 and is already working to expand. The Bakery is building the necessary capacity to bake over 1,200 loaves of bread a day - enough to support the needs of the Child Care Program and the Bulembu community at large, with surplus product exported and sold to neighbouring towns.
Donation Amount: $10
Bulembu Tree Nursery
Timber is the biggest net export product in Swaziland as the industry requires over 11 million trees a year. Currently tree seedlings are imported by Swazi Timber producers. The Bulembu Tree Nursery would not only ensure that Bulembu Timber has access to less expensive seedlings but sales to other Swazi producers could prove a significant revenue source.
Donation Amount: $15
Bulembu Dairy
Bulembu Dairy launched in 2009 on the grounds of the converted golf course. Today a herd of over 30 cows are producing hundreds of litres of fresh milk a day, adding protein to the diets of locals. The dairy is working to expand to provide other dairy products to the Child Care Program, the general Bulembu community and for resale in neighbouring towns.
Donation Amount: $25
Bulembu Fish Farm
With abundant natural resources and infrastructure that is easily modified, Bulembu has the opportunity of becoming a leading farmed fish producer and exporter in Southern Africa, increasing the community's food security and generating revenue for the town.
Donation Amount: $30
Vocational Training and Conference Centre
In June 2010, Bulembu began construction of the Bulembu Vocational Training and Conference Centre (VTCC). Bulembu already attracts thousands of tourists a year as visitors to the community. Building a state-of-the-art conference centre, which will be simultaneously used for vocational training in the hospitality industry, has been well received by experts and industry leaders in Swaziland and South Africa. Construction and cirriculum planning continues but your support is essential.
Donation Amount: $40
Biomass Energy Plant
One of the biggest infrastructure improvements scheduled for the next phase of community development, the biomass energy plant will provide the community with an independent energy source while reducing the community's global footprint using renewable wood waste from the timber industry.
